What is a printer adapter? I read the manual to the printer and it is full of 1998 instructions for bus connections and apple talk. Not sure how to go about assigning the printer adapter a fixed IP address. I downloaded Bonjour, but my computer is suspicious of the download. I also started at 192.168.0.254 and made my way down the range and saw no sign of response from Network Utility Ping exercise. I used the Network Utility to ping all the values in the range and didn't see the printer on either the former or possible 192.168.0.250 IP address as suggested by the modem manual. The former printer IP address was 192.168.1.250. Yes, the modem has changed the ethernet network to values 192.168.0.2-254. The subnet mask is 255.255.255.0, which means the magical LAST address in the subnet is 192.168.5.255, and all devices on the subnet will answer. The difference between the two runs is the address of the Printer. Then disconnect the printer and do it again. IF your printer had moved to the new range, you can locate it with Ping (use the one in Network Utility).Įnter the LAST address in the subnet which is the Broadcast Address, and all devices are obligated to answer.
If you can find the manual, you could erase the old address of the printer adapter, and let it get a new one via DHCP, or you could assign it a new fixed address in the new range.
